Due to these unprecedented times, there has been an increase in anxiety and anxiety related disorders. Per The World Health Organization, within the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by 25%. Historically, benzodiazepines have been inappropriately used for treatment of anxiety and its related disorders. The presenter will review the pathophysiology of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders such as changes within the HPA axis, noradrenergic and serotonin models. Attendees should be able to develop guideline-directed recommendations for each anxiety related disorder including appropriate benzodiazepine use.

  1. Recall the pathophysiology of anxiety and anxiety related disorders
  2. Identify therapy options and guideline recommendations for each anxiety related disorder
  3. Recognize “best practice” pharmacotherapy options for anxiety related disorders

  1. Recall the definition of anxiety and anxiety related disorders
  2. Identify classes of medications utilized for management of anxiety disorders
  3. Recognize differences in control scheduling in medications for anxiety disorders

Note about CE credit: If you plan to obtain credit for a live session, stay until the end of the presentation to receive the verification code you will need to obtain the continuing education credit. CE credit is individual. No group credit is available.
