The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on our lives. Many of us are facing unprecedented challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Public health actions, such as social distancing, while necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19, can also make us feel isolated and lonely and lead to increased stress and anxiety. As healthcare professionals, we have an obligation to address this aspect of the pandemic with our colleagues. This session will provide tools and resource to assist colleagues in coping with the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.

Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Recall the common mental health disorders associated with the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Recognize the resulting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health
  • Identify strategies for coping with stress and anxiety
