Due to the nature of calcium channel blockers and beta blocker overdoses, it is incredibly important for clinicians to understand how to recognize and treat them, as patients are usually critically ill and require emergent therapy. The presenter will share an overview of each overdose, how to distinguish them, supportive care options and possible antidotes to be used so that clinicians are most comfortable treating this population.

  1. Recall typical clinical presentations for calcium channel and beta blocker overdoses
  2. Identify appropriate treatment regimens for calcium channel and beta blocker overdoses depending on patient presentation
  3. Recognize appropriate treatment targets for calcium channel and beta blocker overdoses

  1. Recall medications that can precipitate overdose in patients taking calcium channel blockers and beta blockers
  2. Recognize medications commonly used to treat overdoses
  3. Identify appropriate dosing of calcium channel blockers, beta blockers, and supportive care/antidote medications
