Healthcare systems continue to face rapid growth in high-cost, specialty and first-in-class drug approvals, creating increasing challenges related to formulary
management, budget impact and clinical integration. The presenters will share a focused update on pharmaceutical innovations with the greatest impact on pharmacy practice and healthcare systems. Emphasis is placed on agents affecting formulary strategy, budget planning and patient outcomes across acute and ambulatory care settings. Attendees will gain practical insight into key indications, safety considerations and operational implications to support evidence-based decision making. The session highlights therapies most likely to influence utilization, contracting and clinical protocols across the membership.

- Recognize novel therapies that are FDA-approved or in the pharmaceutical pipeline that may have implications on health system practice.
- Identify key therapeutic classes of innovation in the U.S. market for 2026 and beyond.
- Recall novel GLP-1 indications, formulations, and dosing frequencies for use, as well as barriers to success within the growing biosimilar landscape

- Identify the mechanism of action of GLP-1 receptor agonists and the resulting cardiovascular/endocrine benefits and adverse events this class of medications has on patients
- Recall the dosage forms and frequency of administration of novel HIV preexposure prophylaxis medications
- Recognize biosimilar interchangeability and how it may improve patient access to costly injectable drugs
