5 On-demand Credit Programs: Wound Care & Healing
Event Navigation
HMP, NACCME & Organogenesis, Inc.* present 5 On-demand Programs
CREDIT FOR EACH OF THESE 5, one-hour PROGRAMS EXPIRES ON NOV. 29, 2019
- “New Research & Clinical Applications: Activating Acute Wound Healing Response in Venous Leg Ulcers With Living Cell-based Therapy”
Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
-
-
- Discuss how to optimize the effectiveness of cell-based therapies by decreasing protease levels with appropriate wound site preparation
- Investigate late-breaking science behind living cell-based therapy shifting chronic non-healing venous leg ulcers into an acute wound healing response
- Explore cases of patients treated with living cell-based therapy combined with standard of care
-
Presenters: Paul J. Kim, DPM, MS | Marjana Tomic-Canic, Ph.D. | George J. Koullias, M.D.
2. “A Multi-Faceted Expert’s Approach to Managing Venous Disease & Venous Leg Ulcers”
Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
-
-
- Describe the incidence, financial and clinical burden, and associated comorbidities of venous disease
- Explore evidence-based approaches and best practices in managing venous disease and venous leg ulcers
- Review challenging cases of venous leg ulcers and practical approaches to management
-
Presenter: William Marston, M.D.
3. “Examining the Use of Purified Collagen Matrix With Antimicrobial for Treating Chronic Wounds”
Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
-
-
- Explain the science of polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB) antimicrobial and compare and contrast from other antimicrobials in treating chronic wounds
- Review the role of PHMB antimicrobial in managing bioburden and halting the progression from a colonized to a critically colonized wound environment
- Explore cases surrounding the use of collagen and PHMB antimicrobial in combination with adjunctive therapy in the management of chronic wounds
-
Presenters: Ryan H. Fitzgerald, DPM | Gregory Schultz, M.D.
4. “Proactive Biofilm-Based Wound Management”
Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
-
-
- Examine a proactive biofilm-based wound management (BBWM) strategy aimed at reducing and preventing biofilm re-formation
- Employ comprehensive, proactive BBWM protocol, including sharp debridement and application of broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy followed by adjunctive therapy
- Review components of an ideal antimicrobial technology
- Explain the science of polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB) antimicrobial
-
Presenters: Shaun Carpenter, M.D., FAPWCA, CWSP | Gregory Schultz, Ph.D.
5. “Optimizing Chronic Wound Management Outcomes Through Biofilm-Based Wound Management: An Expert Panel Discussion”
Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
-
-
- Examine a proactive biofilm‐based wound management (BBWM) strategy aimed at reducing and preventing biofilm re‐formation including the role of surgical debridement
- Outline properties of an ideal topical antimicrobial for combatting biofilm and explain the science of polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride (PHMB)
- Assess clinical outcomes of Biofilm Based Wound Management followed by the ideal topical antimicrobial, potentially followed by cellular therapies
- Explore case studies on the use of surgical debridement, BBWM strategies and proven cellular therapies for the treatment of chronic wounds
-
Presenters: Jonathan N. Brantley, DPM | Ryan H. Fitzgerald, DPM | Gregory Schultz, Ph.D.
Target audience: This activity is designed for physicians, podiatrists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants involved in the treatment of patients with chronic wounds.
