Learning Objectives | After participating in this activity, learners should be better able to:
- Review the mechanism of action for NPWT
- Explore the economics and evolution of NPWT and innovations such as hybrid drapes and peel and place dressing technology
- Investigate the new FDA indication and reimbursement for the use of NPWT for hydromechanical removal of infectious materials, nonviable tissue and wound debris
- Consider the use of incision management dressings for managing and protecting surgical incisions
- Examine clinical decision making for NPWT and determine which dressings to use and when
- Apply new therapy application tips toward the use of NPWT with instillation, incision management and hybrid drapes
