HealthTrust presents…“Navigating the Path to Reducing Surgical Site Infections”

Prior to the pandemic, many organizations were making great strides in the prevention of surgical site infections (SSI). Unfortunately, with the pandemic, came the cancelation of elective procedures and a shift of focus away from this important work. Now we are seeing stabilization in cases and increased activity in the surgical arena.  This is the ideal time to reinvigorate SSI prevention programs. This session will provide an overview of the basics of SSI prevention in the perioperative area and methods for implementing the appropriate measures as well as a discussion of who should be involved in these efforts.  Within this discussion, Dr. Sistrunk will provide evidence/guidance with regard to some of the products on the market.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss current guidelines and evidence surrounding SSI prevention.
  2. Engage appropriate individuals in infection prevention efforts for SSI prevention.
  3. Use the information learned to have meaningful conversations regarding the implementation of SSI prevention in attendees’ organizations.
