HealthTrust presents…”Multiple Sclerosis”

Multiple sclerosis is a lesser known and complex disease state. There remains a gap in knowledge of the prevalence, etiology, phenotypes and treatment options of multiple sclerosis. Individualizing treatment regimens remains a particular challenge to encourage compliance while providing sufficient treatment to prevent disease progression for multiple sclerosis. Additionally, there is little data to directly compare and contrast disease modifying therapies. In this session, the presenter will examine multiple sclerosiss’ etiology, phenotypes, diagnosis mechanisms and treatment options. Medications discussed include disease-modifying therapy (DMT), a class of medications that reduces the frequency of relapses and progression of multiple sclerosis. Individual mechanisms, route of administration, dosing regimens, side effect profiles and indications for use will be discussed and reflect the most current treatment paradigm. The presenter will also briefly review additional supportive therapy.

Learning Objectives for Pharmacists and Nurses  |  At the end of the session, participants should be able to:
