HealthTrust presents…”Management of Chemotherapy-Induced Cardiotoxicities”

Cancer and cardiovascular disease are some of the most prevalent diseases we encounter today. Chemotherapy agents can cause a broad spectrum of cardiotoxicities, ranging from transient to more long-lasting effects. While newer therapies have improved cancer prognosis, they have also introduced cardiovascular complications that can interfere with treatment continuation, quality of life and survival. Current knowledge gaps include understanding the complications of these chemotherapy and targeted agents and addressing them without compromising cancer therapy. This program seeks to review these agents and discuss approaches for the prevention and treatment of cardiotoxicities.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  1. List the common cardiotoxicities observed with chemotherapy agents.
  2. Identify chemotherapy agents that can cause cardiotoxicities.
  3. Indicate pharmacotherapy options for the management of the cardiotoxicities.
