The Grifols Academy of Transfusion Medicine* presents…“Are You Assessment / Inspection Ready?”

Being prepared for inspections is a crucial aspect of the clinical laboratory, especially in the transfusion service. In this presentation, Mary will review various strategies for inspection readiness as well as discuss tasks laboratories can complete on a routine basis to ensure they are prepared for an inspection. Best practices for several key elements within the laboratory will be discussed such as quality control, equipment maintenance, competency assessment, and deviation management.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

• Recognize the most common findings identified during external assessments by different accrediting and regulating organizations
• Become aware of the different agencies and what deemed status by CLIA means
• Outline actions that can be performed routinely to remain ready for external assessments
• Develop strategies for performing successful self-assessments
