The goal for the patient undergoing a surgical procedure is to emerge without complications. Clinicians play a critical role in preparing the patient for a successful surgical experience. This presentation focuses on the preoperative care of the surgical patient in the acute and ambulatory setting. Learn about specific evidence based best practice protocols that should be considered for a preoperative bundle.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Describe three preoperative interventions to help reduce the patient’s risk of surgical site infections (SSI)
  • Identify best practices for a peripheral IV bundle
  • Discuss two strategies to implement specific evidence-based best practice protocols into the preoperative environment
