HealthTrust presents…Virtual HTU: “Providing the Tools to Succeed & Lead: Developing a Leadership Certificate Program”

While the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook projects a decline, or decreased rate of growth in pharmacist positions, and a relative slowing rate of growth for pharmacy technician positions over the next 10 years, the outlook for roles in pharmacy leadership and administration are expected to increase as high as 13.5%. However, leadership training for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can be variable, allusive and costly. Presenters from one IDN will share their experience in establishing a one-year leadership certificate program affiliated with a state pharmacy society. Attendees will learn key takeaways from the program’s first four years where 15 fellows graduated from the program and eight more are scheduled to finish in September of 2022. These graduates have stepped into new leadership positions as Pharmacy Managers and Directors, and also as Pharmacy Tech Supervisors.

Learning Objectives | At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize an example of an informal leadership development program
  • Recall the structure and content provided with the I-LEAD program
  • Identify the benefits and potential results from implementing an informal leadership development program
