“Updated Environmental & Social Criteria for EPEAT-registered Computers & Displays”

The Green Electronics Council* presents…“Updated Environmental & Social Criteria for EPEAT-registered Computers & Displays”

The EPEAT Computer and Display category is getting an update later this year, and EPEAT is recommending some changes in purchasing requirements. The updated category, which launches in November, will differ from the existing category in three major ways:

  • Increased focus on priority impacts – including climate change, chemicals, and resource consumption
  • Expanded sustainability attributes with the inclusion of social impact criteria
  • Greater focus on supply chain transparency and impacts

It is very likely that the majority of the products registered to the new criteria may only achieve an EPEAT Bronze rating. This is because the new criteria are much more rigorous, and it is likely that a Bronze-registered product under the new criteria will exceed the sustainability features of a Gold-registered product under the old criteria. By focusing on impact, sustainability and supply chain transparency, there is no need to specify an EPEAT tier. Model contract language is available that takes into account these changes.

The webinar will offer a deep dive into the updated criteria and recommended changes to policies and contracts.

Questions should be directed to Andrea Desimone with the Green Electronics Council.
