Download the content.

Please Note: Continuing education credit is only available to those attending the session live. CE credit is not available when accessing the program on demand.

As technology evolves, new risks are introduced to the healthcare system. For example, adding a five-character limit in an automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) for an override, can create unsafe situations if the user does not understand why a medication is not detectable when a three-letter abbreviation is entered.  Additionally, many states require medication safety continuing education for license renewal, so this session will help practitioners. The presenters will outline potential risks currently in the medication use system and highlight strategies to help the audience understand how system level changes could potentially affect the safety of our systems.
