On the last day of 2019, a pneumonia of unknown cause was detected in Wuhan, China, and first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO). The virus has continued to spread and the outbreak declared a “public health emergency of international concern” on Jan. 30, 2020. The WHO has since announced a name for the new coronavirus disease: COVID-19. While news reports and online platforms continue to post hourly on COVID-19, how much can be attributed to reputable sources is not easily identifiable.

Join HealthTrust for a brief overview of current state as reported by WHO and the CDC, key elements to identify and contain the virus, and information on available resources to address this disease in your health system and community. An infectious disease physician from the HealthTrust Physician Advisor program will offer some real-world examples of how facilities are applying CDC guidelines to their treatment plans. Attendees will be provided with links to reputable resources that are updating their sites as new information is available.
