“Respirators for Health Care Personnel Use during the COVID-19 Pandemic”

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)* presents…“Respirators for Health Care Personnel Use during the COVID-19 Pandemic”

Respirators are a type of personal protective equipment (PPE). A filtering facepiece respirator (FFR) is a device that is a disposable half-facepiece non-powered air-purifying particulate respirator intended for use to cover the nose and mouth of the wearer to help reduce wearer exposure to pathogenic biological airborne particulates. The FDA has issued several policies and EUAs to help mitigate FFR shortages.  These actions help assure health care personnel on the front lines have the necessary supplies of personal protective equipment to meet the demand.

The FDA also plans to hold additional webinars every two weeks to continue to share information and answer your questions on respirators and other personal protective equipment (PPE). Registration is not necessary.
