Family to Family Support Network* & HUGGIES Healthcare* present…“Respectful Care Reflecting a Trauma-Aware Approach”

With a high percentage of patients having significant trauma history and often experiencing daily toxic stress, it is essential for healthcare professionals to implement trauma-informed patient care, regardless of disclosure. We will explore brain science and the impact of trauma, as well as trauma-informed practice to implement within the healthcare setting.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define trauma, its prevalence, signs/characteristics, and impact on patients
  • Evaluate one’s own trauma and the role this may play in clinical care
  • Identify key components of a trauma-informed care approach and its application in the perinatal setting
  • Learn effective strategies to improve the provider-patient relationship
