HealthTrust presents…“Reducing the Risk of Medical Device Misconnections (ISO – 80369)”

Conversion to ISO 80369 compliant-connectors has already begun and is supported by the FDA, the Joint Commission and CMS. It will improve patient safety, in general, and specifically in the ICU, by reducing the possibility of adverse events caused by the misconnection of small bore medical devices. At the conclusion of the presentation, the audience will understand the development of ISO standards, the rationale for conversion to compliant products and how to work with suppliers to begin the conversion process.

  1. Discuss the development of the ISO standards, the rationale for conversion to compliant products and how to work with suppliers to begin the conversion process.
  2. Explain the new enteral feeding specific standard ISO 803695‐3 and its effect on your facility.
  3. Identify how to begin preparing for the conversion to the new standards and future standards.
