HealthTrust presents…“PERT, No Longer a 70’s Shampoo!”

Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is the third leading cause of death behind heart attack and stroke.  Prompt diagnosis and treatment can improve survival significantly.  Currently, there is a lack of standardization of care for patients presenting with massive or submassive PE. An opportunity exists to educate members on the benefits of adopting a PERT system of care, similar to STEMI and stroke care.  This session will provide the audience with a brief overview of pulmonary embolism etiology, pathophysiology and management approach.  The concept of PERT (Pulmonary Embolism Response Tem) will be introduced and defined. Members who have used this approach will provide insight into their experiences with PERT.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Articulate the burden of Pulmonary Embolism
  2. Explain what a PERT team is and understand the basics of how to implement a team at their organization
  3. Verbalize treatment options for patients presenting with massive/submassive pulmonary embolism
