“Patient Safety Risk Assessments in Behavior Health Rooms, Units and Facilities: Patient Risk Driven Design”

W.W. Grainger, Inc. presents…

“Patient Safety Risk Assessments in Behavior Health Rooms, Units and Facilities: Patient Risk Driven Design”

During this no cost, one hour educational webinar, we will examine how Behavioral health units, facilities and psychiatric hospitals are very different than general hospitals. In fact, they are complete opposites in many ways. This webinar will explore both why and how they are different as well as ways to determine which products are needed in the construction and maintenance of these facilities to help provide the highest level of safety for both the patients and staff. The level of concern for the safety of patients and staff due to the design of the built environment is not the same in all parts of a facility. The level of precautions necessary depends on the staff’s knowledge of the patient (i.e. the patient’s intentions regarding self-harm) and the amount of supervision the patient will have while using that part of the facility.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Seminar attendees will learn some of the historical design basis for today’s behavior health built environments
  2. Attendees will learn how to conduct a patient safety risk assessment
  3. Attendees will learn to use a PSRA to help make appropriate design choices for the built environment
