The epidemiology of hospital-acquired infections (HAI) and surgical site infections (SSI) will be discussed and how establishing a standardized, every patient, every time process and outcomes directed patient interventions can help reduce practice variability and ultimately help to reduce overall HAI and SSI rates.

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the epidemiology of hospital surgical site and hospital-acquired infection (HAI) and surgical site infection (SSI) rates.
  2. Discuss the impact of HAI and SSI infections.
  3. Discuss current best practices and technology innovations for HAI and SSI infection prevention.
