This educational activity will present findings from studies related to conducting real-time, continuous urine output monitoring and how this type of assessment enables early diagnosis of AKI, implementation of effective interventions, improved patient outcomes, and improved hospital economics.

Learning Objectives  |  After completing this continuing education activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the primary anatomical structures of the renal system
  2. Discuss key processes related to fluid balance
  3. Describe primary classification systems for diagnosing and staging acute kidney injury (AKI)
  4. Summarize the main findings of studies related to automated real-time monitoring of urine output
  5. Explain how this technology can impact healthcare worker efficiencies and decrease costs

Target Audience: Perioperative nurses or other healthcare professionals who want to learn more or needs to gain knowledge and skills in acute kidney injury and learning more about automated real-time monitoring of urine output.

Continuing Education:  California Board of Registered Nursing. Pfiedler Education is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 14944 for 2.0 contact hours. Obtaining full credit for this offering depends upon attendance, regardless of circumstances, from beginning to end. Licensees must provide their license numbers for record-keeping purposes.
