“Next Generation Silver Technology: Enhancing Silver to Address Wound Bioburden

ConvaTec* & Wound Source Webinars present…“Next Generation Silver Technology: Enhancing Silver to Address Wound Bioburden”

Despite advances in wound management technologies, the problem of chronic non-healing wounds continues. Chronic wounds negatively impact patients’ quality of life and add significantly to treatment costs and costs associated with potential related litigation. A recent economic analysis of more than 8 million wounds in seniors estimated annual costs approaching $10 billion.

Several factors contribute to wound chronicity, but wound infection and persistant bioburden continue to emerge as playing key roles. Innovative approaches are necessary to overcome these challenges.

Advanced and proven technologies that address the challenge of wound bioburden should be considered as front line treatment to avoid development of wound recalcitrance.

This program introduces a new and innovative wound dressing intervention to effectively manage wound recalcitrance due to persistent bioburden.

Registrants attending this session will learn:

  1. Distinctions between microorganism tolerance and antimicrobial resistance
  2. Factors contributing to wound chronicity
  3. Importance of early and aggressive wound management
  4. Strategies for effective management of persistent wound bioburden
