“Who Let the Bugs Out? Keeping Patients Safe from Medical Devices and the Healthcare Environment”

Medical devices and equipment, as well as the healthcare environment, may become contaminated with pathogens which may then be transmitted to patients. This webinar will be of interest to nurses and respiratory therapists and will emphasize the importance of recognition of these sources of contamination and prevention strategies to protect patients from infection.

Learning Objectives:

  1. List 3 reasons why medical devices have been linked to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and outbreaks.
  2. Discuss how contamination of the patient’s environment can lead to healthcare- associated infections.
  3. Recall measures to prevent patient infections associated with medical equipment, devices, and the environment.
