“Challenges in Delivering High Performance CPR: The Role of Mechanical CPR”

Stryker & Saxe Healthcare Communications present*…”Challenges in Delivering High Performance CPR: The Role of Mechanical CPR”

High performance CPR is paramount in survival from cardiac arrest. However, there are many challenges including too fast and shallow manual compressions with too many frequent pauses. Pauses in chest compressions and overventilation have been associated with decreased survival. Mechanical CPR devices provide an alternative to manual CPR and are especially helpful when staff are tired or there are not enough providers to perform the skill. Mechanical CPR devices were recommended in The AHA Guidelines for resuscitation of patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection to minimize exposure of healthcare providers attempting resuscitation. This webinar will review the mechanical CPR in detail along with advantages and pitfalls.

Learning Objectives | Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe challenges to providing high quality CPR
  2. Discuss the data to support the use of mechanical CPR devices
  3. Discuss the role of Mechanical CPR to minimize exposure during resuscitation events
