CDC* presents…3-Part On-demand series on Infection Prevention: “Hand Hygiene”

The areas of training in this educational activity will include a description of the critical role of hand hygiene as a foundation for preventing HAIs and review proper hand hygiene technique, including the key moments to perform hand hygiene; illustrate various methods to monitor hand hygiene adherence such as monitoring tools and feedback reports; and discuss common barriers such as internal and external motivators that influence infection prevention behaviors.

The 3-part program includes:

  • HH 101 – Core Concepts for Hand Hygiene: Clean Hands for Health Care Personnel  |  Reviews the critical role of hand hygiene as a foundation for preventing HAIs and reviews proper hand hygiene technique as well as the key moments to perform hand hygiene.

    HH 102 – Hand Hygiene: Education, Monitoring, and Feedback  |  Illustrates different methods to use to monitor hand hygiene adherence and components to include on monitoring tools and feedback reports about hand hygiene adherence.

    HH 103 – Identifying Motivators for Hand Hygiene: External and Internal Factors  |  Discusses common barriers to the performance of hand hygiene and how external and internal motivators can influence infection prevention behaviors.

Target Audience: Infection Prevention Team/Committee, Hospital Leaders, Clinical Educators, Nurse Managers, Physician Managers, Environmental Services Manager, All Staff, and Patient and Family Advisors

Continuing Education for: CME, CNE, CEU, CPH, CHES. Continuing Education Accreditation Statements:

  • Continuing Medical Education for Physicians (CME)  |  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this web-based activity for a maximum of 1.25  AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • Continuing Nursing Education for Nurses (CNE)  |  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides 1.00  contact hours.
  • IACET Continuing Education Units (CEU)  |  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is authorized by IACET to offer 0.10 CEU’s for this program.
  • Certified Public Health (CPH)  |  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a pre-approved provider of Certified in Public Health (CPH) recertification credits and is authorized to offer 1.00 CPH recertification credits for this program.
  • Continuing Education Contact Hours for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES)  |  Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.00  total Category I continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced level continuing education contact hours available are 0. CDC provider number 98614.
