The areas of training in this educational activity will cover key components to consider when designing infection prevention training; the importance of conducting infection prevention audits; how audits can be performed and implemented as part of an infection prevention surveillance program; and strategies to deliver feedback effectively.

The 3-part program includes:

  • CBT 101 – Competency Based Training for Infection Prevention |  Defines competency-based training and describes key components to consider when designing infection prevention training.
  • CBT 102 – Using Audits to Monitor Infection Prevention Practices |  Describes the importance of conducting infection prevention audits and how audits can be performed and implemented as part of an infection prevention surveillance program.
  • CBT 103 – Giving Infection Prevention Feedback  |  Highlights essential components of effective feedback and discusses strategies to deliver feedback effectively.

Target Audience: Infection Prevention Team/Committee, Hospital Leaders, Clinical Educators, Nurse Managers, Physician Managers, Environmental Services Manager, All Staff, and Patient and Family Advisors

  • Continuing Medical Education for Physicians (CME)  |  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.   • Continuing Education Contact Hours for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES)  |  Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.00  total Category I continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced level continuing education contact hours available are 0. CDC provider number 98614.
