As a follow-up to Part 3 of our Meet the Experts Series,  Dr. Randy Loftus will discuss the importance and compliance of basic infection preventative measures are often overlooked. Perioperative interventions such as patient decolonization, anesthesia work area hand hygiene, vascular care and environmental cleaning, when bundled, demonstrate a reduction in S. aureus transmission and Surgical Site Infections (SSI). This webinar reviews a current evidence based intraoperative infection control program aimed to reduce microorganism transmission and SSI.

  • Describe a multifaceted infection prevention program involving patient decolonization, anesthesia work area hand hygiene, vascular care and environmental cleaning
  • Review recent clinical evidence supporting patient decolonization across care settings for reduction of HAI
  • Discuss strategies to engage key stakeholders for multidisciplinary team approach for protocol development
  • Share best practices decolonization protocols example for OR and ICU
