In 2020, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) released a new guideline on alcohol withdrawal management. Since the last update of the 2004 guideline, numerous clinical questions and research have emerged. Additionally, while literature has focused on inpatient settings, clinical practice has evolved to address outpatient management. This presentation will delve into alcohol withdrawal management in the continuum of care for both inpatients and outpatients, addressing primary or alternative pharmacotherapy.

- Recall treatment settings for the management of alcohol withdrawal syndrome
- Identify the role of medications used for alcohol withdrawal management in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Recognize appropriate pharmacotherapy options based on the location of treatment and patient specific factors
