Video Capsule Endoscopy
Video capsule endoscopy is a non-invasive, disposable, diagnostic tool used to visualize the gastrointestinal tract. The device cannot be used to biopsy or treat findings and most frequently is used to evaluate the small intestine for obscure bleeding, suspected Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, polyps, or tumors. The video capsule endoscopy system includes an ingestible camera in pill form, data receiver/recorder, and computer software for image interpretation and storage.
