Shoulder Arthroplasty is a procedure where damaged parts of the shoulder are removed and replaced with artificial components (implants/prosthesis). The shoulder joint is a ball and socket configuration. Surgical treatment options for joint replacement include replacing the head of the humerus bone (ball) or replacing both the ball and the socket (glenoid).
