Bipolar sealers combine radiofrequency (RF) energy and saline (Aquamantys) to create a hemostatic seal and coagulation of soft tissue and bone thus avoiding smoke or char involved with other methods of sealing. The device operates at nearly 200° C less than traditional electrosurgical devices. The devices are often used by surgeons in orthopedics, spine surgery, surgical oncology, trauma, and breast surgery (plastics). This device must be utilized with a proprietary pump generator.
