Diapering has been identified as an extraordinary opportunity to improve outcomes for hospitalized infants through integration of developmental care measures into this routine care task. Every Change Matters: A Guide to Developmental Diapering Care is the first diapering review to consider diapering within the context of developmental care and discuss a more holistic approach to diapering – including skin care, physical development, sensory elements and bonding, providing guidance on how developmental care can be applied to routine care, which is not readily recognized as uncomfortable or stressful to infants.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss two or more ways diapering can impact the physiological state of an infant and/or parent
- List the five focus areas of developmental diapering care
- Provide at least one example of how developmental diapering care can be taught to parents and encouraged to model by healthcare professionals in the hospital setting
Speakers:
Jenene W. Craig, PhD, MBA, OTR/L, CNT, OT Department Chair at Brenau University
Felicia Fitzgerald, BSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, CLNC, Perinatal Outreach Educator at University of Chicago Medicine Perinatal Center
