Phacoemulsification

Phacoemulsification (“phaco”) offers the surgeon the ability to break the cataract nucleus into smaller pieces resulting in a fine emulsion of material, all of which can be removed through the probe used to achieve the breakup. As a result, it is possible to minimize trauma to the structures of the eye and to have minimal impact on its shape as a consequence of modern cataract surgery.
