“Who’s Leading the Leading Health Indicators? Reproductive & Sexual Health”

Healthy People 2020 and Leading Health Indicators* present…“Who’s Leading the Leading Health Indicators? Reproductive & Sexual Health”

Learn about progress made toward achieving the Healthy People 2020 Reproductive and Sexual Health Leading Indicators. You’ll also hear how the Texas Department of State Health Services is working to increase people’s knowledge of their HIV status by supporting HIV testing as a standard of care.

Reproductive and sexual health is a key component of overall health and quality of life for both men and women. For many, reproductive and sexual health services are an entry point into the medical care system. These services improve health and reduce costs by providing pregnancy prevention, HIV and STD testing and treatment, and prenatal care. They also create an opportunity to screen for intimate partner violence and reproductive cancers, refer people to substance abuse treatment, and offer counseling on nutrition and physical activity.

About Healthy People 2020 Leading Health Indicators

The Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) represent a smaller set of Healthy People 2020 objectives selected to communicate high-priority health issues and actions to help address them. LHIs are used to assess the health of the Nation, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and motivate action to improve the health of the U.S. population.

Target audience: Nursing, Healthcare Executives or others interested in population health, Leading Health Indicators, or Healthy People 2020 initiatives
