On-demand: “Sepsis 101 for Nurses”

Sepsis Alliance* presents…Sepsis 101 for Nurses “Sepsis 101 for Nurses” Training Module

Nurses commonly witness crucial initial changes in a patient’s signs and symptoms—the very signs and symptoms that can indicate an infection is developing into sepsis. Since sepsis is difficult to identify, especially in the early stages when treatment is most effective, it is necessary for nurses to have the tools and education they need to recognize sepsis quickly.  This training module fills the need for ongoing, readily accessible, accurate information on the fundamentals of sepsis for nursing students, new graduate nurses, nurses desiring a refresher and nurses changing their specialization.

Target Audience:  Registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses & nursing students

Learning Objectives  |  At the end of this training module, the attendee should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS), sepsis/severe sepsis, and septic shock;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of early recognition and treatment for patients with sepsis/severe sepsis and septic shock;
  • Review the interventions to treat sepsis/severe sepsis and septic shock;
  • Identify actions required by the nurse to facilitate appropriate care for patients with sepsis/severe sepsis and septic shock.
