SUMMARY:"Preconception To Infancy (P2i): Environmental Toxics & Healthy Pregnancy"
DESCRIPTION:Huggies Healthcare* eAcademy presents…“Preconception To Infancy (P2i): Environmental Toxics & Healthy Pregnancy” \nPreconception to Infancy (P2i) is an initiative that addresses three critical areas which can result in improving the health outcomes of women and children: Preconception health which is really well-woman health care—but with one key question that must be asked: “Are you interested in conceiving this year?” If a woman is interested in conceiving\, we focus on her health and all considerations that can impact a pregnancy and the health of her child. Safe and Respectful Maternity Care. Where we are caring for two patients simultaneously. We share a goal with our patients and their families that we will have two healthy patients at the end of nine months. These nine months are based upon shared decision-making\, communication and a systematic attention to the many choices and treatments a woman\, her family and the infant experience. And finally\, THE ENVIRONMENT and how exposure to potential toxic chemicals in the food we eat\, the water we drink\, the air we breathe and the products we use can impact reproductive outcomes\, pregnancy\, birth defects\, and neurodevelopment. I will introduce some of the chemicals of concern\, their sources\, the concept of bioburden—and the risks of prenatal vitamins that are not tested for safety or efficacy before we recommend them to our patients. \nLearning Objectives  |  At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nDescribe the goal of Preconception to Infancy\nUnderstand the impact of environmental toxicants on reproductive health\nAdvocate for global certification of product safety to reduce adverse health outcomes—beginning with prenatal vitamins\nExplain the role of Mass Spectrometry and bioburden in understanding individual risks of environmental exposures\n\nPresenter: Jeanne Conry\, MD\, PhD \nContinuing Education:  This nursing continuing professional development activity has been submitted to the Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit (NEMSD)\, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. NEMSD approver unit number AA01028. \nBrought to you through an educational grant provided by HUGGIES® Healthcare.* \nQuestions should be addressed to HUGGIES Healthcare: Amy Kassing-Cunningham (amy.kassing@kcc.com / 410.897.7425) \n*NOTE: This is a contracted supplier-sponsored webinar.
