Inappropriate or delayed treatment allows for disease progression to septic shock and as many as 9 million deaths per year. Recent efforts to reduce mortality have focused on generating definitions of sepsis and related conditions. Pharmacists may not be aware of updates to the indications\, doses and applications for these medications. Recently\, rivaroxaban has received FDA approval for two additional dose schedules and indications. Additionally\, new evidence has been published on the use of apixaban to prevent VTE in patients with cancer.
