DESCRIPTION:HealthTrust presents…“Hepatitis B Virus Management: Who\, When & How (to treat)” \n \nDownload the content. \nPlease Note: Continuing education credit is only available to those attending the session live. CE credit is not available when accessing the program on demand. \nChronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a major global health concern. The World Health Organization estimates that in 2022 there were 254 million people living with chronic hepatitis B infection. Despite the high burden of disease\, critical knowledge gaps continue to limit optimal management. New developments\, including management of HBV-positive donor organs and evolving recommendations for complex patient populations highlight the importance of continued education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This presentation aims to provide attendees with updated\, guideline-based recommendations for HBV management across diverse patient populations. Key areas of focus will include the use of HBV-positive donor organs in transplantation\, strategies for vaccine non-responders\, considerations for hepatitis D virus coinfection\, and management of complicated cases. \nLearning Objectives for Pharmacists & Nurses | At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nRecall evidenced-based guideline recommendations for hepatitis B virus (HBV) screening and patient eligibility for antivirals.\nRecognize serologic risk categories and specific needs for complex patients.\n Identify methods for optimizing clinical outcomes for HBV patients.\n\nLearning Objectives for Pharmacy Techs | At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nRecall HBV vaccine schedules\, indications and available vaccines to support immunization efforts.\nIdentify patterns of nonadherence to antiviral therapy to distinguish gaps in chronic therapy from short-term medications.\nRecognize strategies for effective education for patients receiving HBV vaccination series and cost concerns for antiviral therapy.\n\n  \nPresenter: \n \nDenise Avila\, PharmD  |  PGY1 Pharmacy Resident  |  HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s |  Denver\, CO \nTarget Audience:  Pharmacists\, Pharmacy Techs & Nurses \nCE Credit: Approved for Pharmacists\, Pharmacy Techs & Nurses \nThis program is approved for CPEs by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
