SUMMARY:"Two Risk Phases for Skin Injury: Protecting Patients Across the Continuum of Care"
DESCRIPTION:HoverTech* presents…“Two Risk Phases for Skin Injury: Protecting Patients Across the Continuum of Care” \nSkin injury risk occurs across the entire continuum of care\, from admission and transport to daily repositioning and prolonged bed rest. While pressure is a recognized contributor to tissue injury\, shear and friction during patient movement and sustained pressure when positioning is not maintained are critical\, often underappreciated factors. This session introduces the concept of two key risk phases for skin injury: the movement phase\, characterized by shear and friction during repositioning and transfers\, and the dwell time phase\, marked by sustained pressure and tissue ischemia when support is inadequate. Participants will explore practical strategies to reduce tissue deformation during movement and maintain offloading using wedges and proper positioning including the use of pressure mapping. Through interactive discussion\, this session equips learners with actionable approaches to protect skin across the continuum of care. \nLearning Outcomes  |  At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nDescribe the two primary risk phases for skin injury: movement and dwell time \, across the\ncontinuum of care\nDifferentiate the roles of shear\, friction\, and sustained pressure in the development of skin\nand deep tissue injury\nExplain how repositioning and offloading strategies influence tissue tolerance in high-risk\npatients\nApply evidence-based repositioning and wedge-supported offloading strategies to prevent\npressure injuries\n\nPresenter: Elizabeth Doherty\, MSN\, CRNP\, FNP-BC  | Family Nurse Practitioner |  Clinical Education Specialist\, HoverTech \nContinuing Education:   \n\nFree Webinar – Earn One (1) Contact Hour. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn One (1) Contact Hour by completing the Evaluation Form that will be emailed within 48 hours after the LIVE session.\nThis webinar will also be available on-demand for those who cannot attend the LIVE session.\nAccrediting Provider for the Nursing CE: California Board of Nursing (#CEP15737).\nPlease allow up to 48 hours after the conclusion of the webinar to receive the evaluation follow-up required to obtain your certificate.\n\nQuestions? Please contact info@HovertechInternational.com with any questions or inquiries. \n*NOTE: This is a contracted supplier and/or industry-sponsored webinar.
