SUMMARY:Virtual HTU: “Rhythm or Rate & When to Anticoagulate: Changes in 2024 AFib Guidelines”
DESCRIPTION:HealthTrust presents…Virtual HTU: “Rhythm or Rate & When to Anticoagulate: Changes in 2024 AFib Guidelines” \n \nDownload the content. \n*Note: Members who attended the live HTU event and applied for CE credit are not eligible to receive credit for the same program in a virtual format. In addition\, CE credit is not available when accessing the program on demand. \nSignificant changes are proposed with the recent Atrial Fibrillation (AFib\, AF) Guidelines. Previous protocols used AF classifications based on arrhythmia duration only. Atrial Fibrillation was once playfully described as the “nuisance of the ICU.” As the understanding\, identification and classification of AFib has evolved\, there is now a greater appreciation of the sequelae with ongoing atrial dysrhythmia. This presentation dives into how the 2024 AFib guidelines will drastically change how clinicians identify\, classify and ultimately manage AF in the future. Presenters plan to share unique features of AF which support the guideline changes\, and offer management tips and clinical pearls to assist clinician attendees as they approach AFib in a new way. \nLearning Objectives  |  At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nRecall pathophysiological processes contributing to the manifestation of atrial fibrillation (AFib\, AF) and management strategies in accordance with the latest AF guidelines.\nIdentify updated management strategies in treating Atrial Fibrillation that consider staging\, concurrent comorbidities and individual patient factors.\nRecognize recent evidence\, guidance and interpretations of thromboembolism risk scoring and delineate clinical scenarios for initiating and discontinuing anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation.\n\nPresenters: \n \nJoseph McCoy\, PharmD  |  Division Director of Clinical Pharmacy  |  HCA Healthcare Far West Division \n \nJeff Murawsky\, M.D.\, FACP  |  Division Chief Medical Officer  |  Far West Division of HCA Healthcare \nTarget Audience:  Pharmacy & Nursing \nContinuing Education Information: \n\nApproved for Pharmacy credit\n\nBelmont University College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
