DESCRIPTION:HealthTrust presents…“The Inflation Reduction Act: What Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Means for Pharmacy” \nThe Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) introduced the first-ever authority for CMS to negotiate drug prices\, creating significant changes to Medicare reimbursement and pharmacy operations. However\, many pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have limited familiarity with negotiation eligibility criteria\, timelines and downstream impacts on reimbursement\, 340B considerations and manufacturer pricing strategies. As IRA implementation is ongoing\, variability and uncertainty remain across practice settings. In this session\, the presenter will provide an overview of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and its implications\nfor drug pricing\, Medicare reimbursement and pharmacy operations. The CMS drug price negotiation program will be reviewed\, including eligibility criteria\, timelines and distinctions across small-molecule drugs\, biologics and biosimilars as well as an examination of inflation-based rebates\, Part B and Part D reimbursement changes and potential 340B considerations.
