SUMMARY:"Albumin It to Win It: Use of Albumin in Adult ICU Patients"
DESCRIPTION:HealthTrust presents…”Albumin It to Win It: Use of Albumin in Adult ICU Patients” \n \nDownload the content. \nPlease Note: Continuing education credit is only available to those attending the session live. CE credit is not available when accessing the program on demand. \nAlbumin is a colloid fluid commonly used to enhance hemodynamics in various disease states\, yet its application in critically ill patients remains a subject of debate. It is FDA-approved for conditions such as hypovolemia\, ascites\, hypoalbuminemia\, acute nephrosis\, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. However\, there is limited clinical evidence to support its use for these indications\, and current guidelines do not provide strong recommendations in favor of its administration. \nLearning Objectives for Pharmacists & Nurses  |  At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nRecall the differences between crystalloid and colloid intravenous (IV) solutions\nIdentify intensive care unit (ICU) patient populations in which albumin administration may be harmful\nRecognize disease state(s) which may derive benefit from albumin administration in the ICU\n\nPresenter: \n \nCourtney Feagin\, PharmD  |  PGY1 Pharmacy Resident  |  McLeod Health \nTarget Audience:  Pharmacists & Nurses \nCE Credit: Approved for Pharmacists & Nurses \nThis program is approved for CPEs by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
