CE credit is not available when accessing the program on demand. \nCurrent practice guidelines provide suggestions for pharmacotherapeutic options to achieve burst suppression in the management of refractory status epilepticus. However\, there remains limited clinical data and standardized recommendations for how to initiate and further manage refractory patients using an individualized approach. Refractory status epilepticus is a neurologic medical emergency with significant morbidity and mortality. Burst suppression is a therapeutic target utilized in refractory status epilepticus to reduce cerebral metabolic demand and minimize ongoing excitotoxicity related to persistent seizure activity.
