SUMMARY:"Drug Information: Searching Medical Literature"
DESCRIPTION:Download a copy of this content. \nHealthTrust presents…”Drug Information: Searching Medical Literature” \nDespite being an essential part of a healthcare professional\, many pharmacists and nurses may not know where to start when asked to search medical literature in response to a question from another healthcare provider or patient. As a result\, pharmacists and nurses are limited in their ability to quickly but thoroughly respond to inquiries which may ultimately lead to a delay in patient care. Healthcare professionals must stay up to date on current clinical practice and emerging literature. Clinical practice may change more frequently than guidelines alone can keep up with. Thus\, healthcare professionals must be able to effectively and efficiently search medical literature to guide the interventions they implement in patient care. This continuing education program will provide an overview of the various methods of searching medical literature and how to design an effective search strategy. \nLearning Objectives for Pharmacists and Nurses  |  At the end of the session\, participants should be able to: \n\nDifferentiate between indexing and abstracting services\nExplain the differences between MEDLINE and PubMed\nDesign an effective search strategy in response to a drug information question\n\nLearning Objectives for Pharmacy Technicians  |  At the end of the session\, participants should be able to: \n\nExplain the organization and categorization of medical literature in PubMed and MEDLINE\nDevelop an effective search strategy in order to locate a specific article\n\nPresenter: \n \nRena J.
