SUMMARY:“Clinically Indicated Peripheral Vascular Access Care & Maintenance: Addressing Current Standards With Evidence-based Practice”
DESCRIPTION:3M Healthcare Academy* presents…“Clinically Indicated Peripheral Vascular Access Care & Maintenance: Addressing Current Standards With Evidence-based Practice” \nPeripheral vascular access is often considered a simple\, low risk procedure compared to other types of vascular access when\, in fact\, peripheral IVs are associated with significant complications and cost. Despite being one of the most common invasive interventions\, care and maintenance of peripheral IVs is frequently inconsistent between healthcare workers. There is a shift in the removal of peripheral IVs as more facilities implement protocols which call for clinically-indicated removal. This approach necessitates consistency in the care of these devices to help reduce complication risk. The presenter will explore the potential benefits of such a policy to the patient and healthcare facility\, what practice changes are needed as a result\, and how to influence and support staff to achieve quality patient outcomes. \nLearning Objectives  |  At the end of this session\, participants should be able to: \n\nIdentify current clinical standards addressing peripheral vascular care\nDiscuss clinical challenges associated with peripheral catheter maintenance that can impact outcomes\nDescribe recommended practices and evidence-based interventions for peripheral catheter maintenance\nIdentify potential solutions to address these challenges and clinical studies that support these solutions\n\nPresenter \n \nWhitney Ficocello\, BSN\, RN\, PHN  |  Technical Service Engineer  |  3M Medical Solutions Division \nTarget audience: Nurses \nContinuing education information: 3M is an approved provider by The California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider Number CEP 5770.  This program provides 1 CE contact hour of Nursing CE. \nQuestions should be directed to 3M: jhager.cw@mmm.com \n*NOTE: This is a contracted supplier-sponsored webinar.
