Specifically\, the unacceptable rates of preventable adverse events in childbirth are topping 50 percent. A major reason for this tragic result is poor recognition and appropriate treatment of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. This program will review the four major hypertensive disorders of obstetrics and focus on the rapid diagnosis and treatment of hypertensive emergencies—a major cause of maternal deaths.
