PREVIOUSLY RECORDED: This presentation will define and discuss the scope of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), including the incidence and mortality figures in the U.S. The concept of individual risk assessment vs. group prophylaxis will be discussed, and the Caprini Thrombosis Risk Scoring method will be reviewed. Results from various studies around the world using this score will be presented, including the most successful application of this score in the U.S., at Boston University.
