HealthTrust presents…”Breaking Even During Price Hikes in the Intensive Care Unit”

Price hikes and a fragile supply chain may account for millions of dollars in unplanned annual drug expenditures for hospital pharmacies. This session will review the impact of the Unapproved Drugs Initiative and shortages on price hikes and how hospital pharmacists can apply the model for improvement (Institute for Healthcare Improvement Model) to value-based initiatives. The importance of clinical and operational skills and knowledge in combating price hikes will also be discussed. The presenters will share how Boston Medical Center avoided nearly one million dollars in costs through multidisciplinary, value-based, improvement science initiatives.
