HealthTrust presents…“New Medications & FDA Updates 2017″

Program Summary
In 2017, there were 46 new molecular entities approved by the FDA for use in the United States as well as a number of FDA drug safety alerts. This presentation will review all the new medications that were approved by the FDA in 2017. A more comprehensive overview of the selection of the medications, as well as dosing and adverse effects, and a review of the studies
that lead to approval will be discussed. The end of the presentation will focus on FDA warnings that were published during 2017 and how they affect our practice.

Learning Objectives for Pharmacists  |  At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
1. List the medications that were brought to the market in 2017
2. Describe the indications and mechanisms of action of the new medications
3. Review adverse effects and patient safety information for these new medications
4. Relate new medications approved in 2017 with those approved previously with similar indications
5. Discuss important patient counseling and monitoring parameters for newly approved medications
6. Identify drug safety warnings that were published by the FDA in 2017
